Feng Shui Fish Pond
Solo Exhibition by Kalman Pool
Loop Fine Art, Guangzhou, China
17 September – 10 October 2022
In Feng Shui Fish Pond, Kalman Pool draws from traditional Chinese feng shui concepts, blending them with contemporary practices to explore themes of spatial energy, flow, and balance. The exhibition is housed in the historic Hu Clan Ancestral Hall, a venue that merges cultural heritage with modern artistic interventions.
Featuring a series of colorful, large-scale inflatable sculptures and vibrant paintings, the show transforms the gallery space into a dynamic, immersive environment. Pool’s work invites the viewer to consider the interplay between organic shapes, synthetic materials, and the invisible energies that shape our surroundings. The exhibition’s central motif, the fish pond, symbolizes the continuous flow of energy—an elemental force reflected in the fluidity of the inflatables and the bright, bold color palettes used throughout.
“Kalman Pool’s Feng Shui Fish Pond is a meditation on the invisible forces that govern our spaces—both natural and manmade. Through his inflatable sculptures, he creates an atmosphere that blends the ancient with the contemporary, inviting us to rethink how energy flows around us.”
